Drama in Year 4

Over the last few weeks, Year 4 have been exploring Shakespeare’s Hamlet. We have used a great deal of drama to support our learning and have explored different scenes from the play. Some superb acting skills on show!

World Book Day 2018

On World Book Day, many of Year 4 decided to dress as their favourite character from a book. We had a wide range of characters, from Mr. Stink to Peter Rabbit, it was great to share our favourite books together.

Hamlet

Over the last few weeks we have been focusing on our topic, Hamlet. We have been focusing on the themes and characters in the play, using drama games and quotes from the text to extend our learning. Everyone has really thrown themselves into our drama, well done!

Wonderful Wednesdays

Each Wednesday, Year 4 and 5 have a fantastic time completing a morning of expert coaching from Northampton Saints, Northampton Town Football Club, Barclays Digital Eagles and Northampton County Cricket. We’ve had a wonderful time and braved the weather! Well done Year 4!

Super Science

This week, we completed some work on sound and learnt how sound travels into our ear. It was practical and we experimented using rice on a drum – lots of fun!

Super Snow Experiment

Today we have been using the snow as part of a science experiment. We tested compact vs loose snow with a range of substances to decide which melts snow the best. Each group created a hypothesis and decided to test three materials to see which would work.

Tudor Houses

Last week, we completed some work on instructional writing, this helped us to plan our designs for the Tudor houses we would make later in the week. A good start Year 4!

Augmented reality comes to Year 4

Today in science, we continued our work about the digestive system by using augmented reality to see inside our own bodies. Using a clever t-shirt and app, the children were able to investigate the role of different organs in our digestive and circulatory systems, it was very exciting!

Tudor Maths Challenge

Earlier in the week, the children received a wax-sealed letter from Henry VIII requesting their help to unlock the golden chest. Their task was to complete some addition challenges in order to crack the codes and unlock padlocks! Fortunately, they were able to break the code and find the antidote for Henry’s alchemist… phew!
